After reading about the toxic properties of soy in “Tragedy & Hype: The Third International Soy Symposium,” I would not use this product because it contains fermented soy. I am looking for a calcium capsule with one ingredient – algas calcareas sp.

The selling proposition of this supplement is that your body will be able to better utilize its calcium rather than the calcium you usually get (calcium citrate) because it is made from algae — a living substance, a food, rather than rocks. I really just don’t know whether this premise has much merit. Our bodies need all kinds of trace minerals such as copper, selenium and strontium, that don’t exist as “food” per se.
My bottle contained 60 pills but only 20 servings as one must take three pills to get: only 685 mg of calcium! (Granted they also contain 1000 D). So I will still need to take additional (probably non-food) calcium every day to get up to the recommendtion of about 1200-1500 for women my age.
The pills are fine but cost way too much for what you get. Somebody’s marketing wet dream.

This is a great choice for supporting good bone health and supplementing calcium/magnesium intake because it is made from whole plant foods, live-harvested from a protected environment, a source that makes it much easier for the body to process and absorb. I have ordered this item many times and had to deduct a star because the last two shipments were packed so poorly that the bottle cap was cracked and many of the tablets were broken in several bottles. A little more effort please to get these to customers without damage. Red Tag Sale has always shipped promptly, though, and their prices sure beat anything I can pick up locally.

I love New Chapter products and have always been happy with their quality of ingredients. These pills are 1000mg of calcium in each tablet, it is broken up into two areas on the label, which can be confusing. The label states that three pills are 3000 mg. These pills also include K2 (which a lot of calcium supplements don’t include and you need to properly absorb the calcium), K1, Vitamin D3, and magnesium. I also like that the calcium is derived from algae. Since I can’t eat dairy, I take one of these during a meal and have never had any problems with stomach upset or anything like that. I hight recommend this for a calcium supplement!

I’ve only been taking this for a couple of weeks, so I have no basis for commenting on the efficacy of the product – whether it works, or not. I will say that it’s easy to take and convenient. It is, however, expensive for the number of daily dosages you get in a bottle. If you can find a way to get this at a discount, it would probably be worth it.
